Unhappy Ascocenda keikie on mount?

I transplanted an Ascodenda from a flask into a tiny pot. It grew very well and when I thought it was strong enough I moved it into my shade house, there it did exceptionally well for a while, then it just started dying. I think it wasn't getting enough vertilation between the bigger pots. I then moved to a more open spot, and it seemed to revive a bit, and grew a keikie, which has now developed two tiny roots. The keikie is only about 1 cm big, the bit of plant it is growing on is not much bigger. I really would like to try and save it, as it is a holiday memento. It is winter here now, could I attach it to a mount, should I sprinkle it with either cinnamon or charcoal dust, or would it harm the little roots?

I would love to see a picture. Mounting it is fine or in the basket is fine too. At that age they like stability and their roots tips easily break. Whichever style you go with, tie it down so it's secure. Cinnamon or charcoal dust? Are you cutting something or do you suspect fungus? Water it everyday just like an adult. I water mine every day and fertilize once a week. So far, not a single one has died from my flask.
