Paraphalaenopsis labkensis
It is very rare to see this in bloom. I had an opportunity to buy the plant in buds. The flower itself is so unique. I just love it.

I bought it through the society auction. One of the member, who also was an AOS judge passed away a few months ago. My OS had a privilege to go through 400+ of his collection. This is one of three Paraphals he had.
Botanica, Ltd in MT and Orchids Limited sell them. Botanica, Ltd. brought one in spike for our show last weekend.

What a wonderful bloom! I have several Paraphals (including this one), but none have yet to bloom. Thanks for the inspiration!

Do you grow this like Phals, Naoki? I'm asking because I've been growing my Paraphalaenopsis laycockii fro years and years and got no flowers until now. Tried it mounted, in semi-hydro, in tree fern fiber, shaded, in bright light... Now I put it in moss and it seem to be doing better, but no flowers still... Any advice?

Hi, Mauro. My Paraphals are placed rigth next to Vandas. They get high light with 70% humidity. Prior to this one, I bought one from Jason Fischer, Orchids Limited. It is much smalller than the one in a picture, but it seems to be doing well. It has put out a few new roots which are now growing on the cork plaque.
The Phals do not like me. I tend to kill them.
