Vanda merrillii 'Peter'
A hot growing specie from the island of Luzon in Philippines. Quite large plant and fragant flowers.
This clone is a bridge between the type specie (yellow and maroon/burgundy) and var rotorii (maroon/burgundy). In fact, I bought it as var. peter but, except in wikipedia, I din't find any var peter in neither RHS and Kew lists....

Very nice, Philippe. And yes, this one does get to be a very large plant. I have two of them, and they are each approaching one meter in height. But that fragrance is fantastic, and since they tend to produce multiple spikes, they're worth the extra space they require. How long have you had your plant?

Hi Steve,
I have seen yours in the forum, very nice as well. I have var rotorii as well and should receive from the type specie next month : I hope it will be as nice as yours.
I bought this plant about 2 or 3 months ago at an international orchid fair in Bangkok. I have hung it under a tree and it blooms quite fast. Does this specie bloom few times a year ?

Philippe, if there's anyplace where it will bloom multiple times per year, it's probably your area of the world. For me, this one is strictly a summer bloomer. I like the saturated red color of your plant's blooms. So if yours ends up blooming throughout the year, that will give me one more reason to be envious.

I love this species. I'd like to try it, but I can't find mature blooming-size plants anywhere.
How big is this plant? I want to get a sense of its dimensions.

Let me know when you locate the plants. I have been searching them, too.

Carl the plant is about 50 cm but, as written by Steve previously, the plant can be much bigger.
