Default Perreiraara Motes Leprechan 'Haiku Mint'

It finally bloomed for me. I believe this is the 6th time within a year and a half it tried to bloom, but the spikes dried out for some reason. A local orchids show is coming up in 3 weeks. I hope the flowers would last.

Congratulations! It is very pretty and that lip is huge in comparison to the rest of the flower.

Your plant looks great! I have this one and experience the exact same thing with spikes starting and drying up before they bloom (I get about 1 blooming spike for every 4 that dry up). And when I do get blooms, I still haven't managed to get every bud that starts to form to make it til blooming. As soon as one spike dries, it imediately starts another one. How/where do you grow yours? Just wondering if it's a cultural issue or an issue inherent to this clone?

I grow this in my kitchen window (western exposure). For the last spike, I moved it into my bedroom (also western) and it made it to flowering (4flowers). I don't know if the move helped or whether it's realated to something else.

I love the scent of this one too!

Interesting to know that I am not the only one. I grow mine under HID light, water everyday in the morning. The Vanda growing area keeps around 70% humidity.

It sounds like you have a better growing set up than I do, so I wonder if this is something inherent to this clone?

For awhile I thought it was maybe thrips (that's what I always hear when I describe this issue), but I've tried treating for them, never seen any using a magnifying glass, keep the plant indoors, and have kept it right next to other vandaceous, like Ascofinetia that spike and bloom with no troubles at all.

It's one of my fave plants...I just wish I knew what its problem was!

Interesting Vanda. Thanks for posting. Does it have a fragrance?

Yes! It has a citrusy scent. Much smaller than my other Vandas such as Robert's Delight.
