Default Newed some advice Please!

My
Neostylis Lou Sneary 'Lea' AM/AOS(Neofinetia falcata x Rhyncostylis coelestis) Bloomed this year for the first time. was so cute and so healthy.but now something seems to be wrong with it.as you can see in the photo it has yellow places on the leaves.it is not in the sun hopefully someone can help me. it is just the bottom leaves.i sprayed it with Insecticidal soap.





This is a picture of the whole plant hope you can see it ok my camera isn't the best.and also does it need repotting it has been in this pot for over 2 years.

Hi TOMD,

It is hard to tell from a picture but the yellowed sections on the lower leaves looks a bit like slug or snail damage. Generally slugs only come out at night in the dark. Put a capful of beer on either side of the pot and leave it. Have the edge of the cap of beer low enough that slugs could crawl in and drown in the beer. The rest of the plant looks healthy and I see new root growth in the pic. If it were me I would repot because the medium is likely breaking down by now. Also, it may help you discover what culprit might be living in the medium and munching on the lower part of your plant.

Let me know what you discover.

Thanks, for the help. i did repot but didn't find any snails or slugs.i only found a couple of rotted roots. the rest of the roots looked fine. hopefully it will be ok. i removed the leaves with the yellow on them some did looked as if they were chewed on . Thanks TOMD

Hi I think it was chewed too . Would you believe when I repotted a Catt. that was in the semi hydro pellets just them not in s/h. I found a tiny slug among the pellets . The plant has never been outside, I think a egg came in with the rain water I use . Gin
