Roy, you are way ahead of me. V. merrillii is still on my wish list.

One of the local vendors has a lot of these in his greenhouse. I've been considering getting one for my vanda collection restart.

It also blooms a lot. Mine blooms about 3 to 4 times per year, which is less then some other orchids for sure but a lot for such a beauty. Anyone who loves vandas should have this one

Hello,
This is definitely a beauty!
Not to be the bearer of bad news, I am pretty sure that this may be a M. Motes hybrid with the formerly known V. tessellata (V. roxburghii). There aren't any side lobes on the labellum in V. roxburghii, so my guess is that is could be the V. Mimi Palmer or another hybrid with V. roxburghii... IMO, this is definitely more striking than the real species! The flatness in the flower is what caught my interest. It is good to know the scent carries along in its progeny, it is quite delightful!
Take care

The color pattern is so pretty on this. If I had a better setup, I'd have more Vandas and definitely, this one!
Glad you're enjoying this!

Funny about that, 3 months ago I didn't have one myself. Now I have 4 merrillii plus the 2 questionable dwarf forms.
