Default Vanda coerulea

Hoping it will develop more tesselation (square netting) on the petals as the flowers age. Definitely not one of the line-bred forms which have flatter, more rounded flower segments. From Parkside Orchids.

I think I would be questioning the seller. This to me is a hybrid. It lacks almost everything even the worst V. coerulea has. Things it has that differ also is the flower form, spike length and space between the flowers.

Roy - you may be right, but the line-bred, tetraploid forms of the species are a far cry from the wild forms found in nature today. This could just be a really crappy seedling of a wild form. Many of the photos of V. coerulea on the web are actually hybrids. I have to admit that I am disappointed!

Bayard, if the plant came from the place you suggest I would believe it an honest mistake and label mix up. I have seen some very ordinary coerulea that do differ greatly from yours. I would send the picks you posted here to Parkside and ask them. From the reports I've, they would be honest enough to give you and answer and opinion.

However, true coerula or not, for me it's stunning. I would be verry happy when I had this plant in my collection! Really, I like it a lot!

Very pretty. I would take it if you don't want yours. ^_^
My coerulea is line breeding, but it's not big flat dinner plate, as the petal twist full 380' , but with a little fuller shape. lol which I love it so much, i just got another coerulea (unbloom B.S plant).

Many peoples fail to realized that it's very easy to tell a pure V.coerulea from the hybrids. Pure coerulea always have white or light blue back ground with may or maynot, darker tessellation. Also there is a very distintive 'sharp hook' on the lip, beside the anther cap. This trait carry out to all line breeding as well. Non-pure coerulea has almost no 'hook' or the tip is much blunder.

I think this one's a beauty too. I much prefer the "poorly shaped" jungle variety plants to the round line-bred plants that are held in high esteem by many growers. The colors on these flowers are fantastic. Congratulations.
