Default Neo Hybrid? (possibly Ascocentrum)

A few years ago I got a Lou Sneary (blue) in bloom and there were 2 plants in the pot, one in bloom and one that was not. I gave one of the plants to a friend and kept the one I am posting pics of. I was expecting a nice blue Lou Sneary when low and behold, I got a pink round creature instead!! Anybody have any idea what this could be be? Is it even a Neo hybrid? Thanks for any help on this one!!

To me, it looks more like a pure Ascocentrum. The petals and sepals are too round to be a neo hybrid.

Oh wow, I don't know a darn thing about Ascos! After checking out OW, I think you are right. How about Ascocentrum ampullaceum?

Ascocentrum ampullaceum does seem reasonable.

Even though it looks nothing like a neo hybrid, it's very cute!

How big are the flowers?

I wonder if a MOD could move this thread to the other 'Vandaceous' area. As for the size of the flowers, they are a little less than an inch across.

My first thought was Ascocentrum but I'm no expert and don't own anything in the Vanda Alliance. But from the pics I've looked at (and I look at a lot of pics here on OB ) that's what it reminds me of most.

P.S. I've moved your thread and also added Ascocentrum to the title for you.
