You're right, Southern California does have much lower humidity than Florida. I'm only two miles from the Pacific, so that does help some - and it's cooler here along the coast than inland so there's less of a drying effect from the heat than inland. I mist/water the vandas once a day and they seem to do just fine. So here's knocking on wood that it keeps working.
