Ross, you should be able to bloom Sarcs easily in your area. I have Sarc. hartmanii that I am growing and blooming in Florida. I have had it for three years now. It sulks a little in the summer heat but survives ok. I read that one of the easiest is a cross between hartmanii and fitzgerald called Fitzhart. I have been considering ordering it from Santa Barbara Orchids.
Mine is fitzgeraldii and it seems to grow fantastically (several side shoots) but no blooms. It is next to the Dracs that are blooming right now.
fitzgeraldii will grow in higher light and cooler temps than the Drac's will. If you are growing the Sarc in Dracula light then it should get more light. I grow mine right next to Cattleya's, it gets slightly less light than the Cattleya's but a lot more light than the Pleuro's I have.
Bolero,Ozzies seem to have a special knack in growing Sarc's I have promised mysef that I will grow them in my next lifetimeI was stunned at the color range available in OZ My brother Colin tells me that there are folks who just grow Sarc's and I can understand why !
