Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share about an award I received this weekend at the West Palm Beach Judging Center for the AOS. The award was given to one of the very first vandaceous plants I ever bought...in fact it is one of the first 5, if memory serves me correctly.
When I first got this one it was only about 10 inches tall on the main stem with 3 tiny keikis at the base. It took two years to bloom, and has been doing so each summer for the past few years. Last year I entered a photo of one of the blooms in the calendar contest and was happy to see it made the November page.
The three original keikis are blooming now and there are an additional 7 well on their way. This year it has gone wild. Right now it has 64 blooms and 10 buds!
When I received my award I decided to name it after my brother Rick...it is now Trichoglottis brachiata 'Richard Genovese' AM/AOS.
Enjoy the photos!
