This is the first Vanda hybrid ever created. It was done by Miss Agnes Joaquim in Singapore in 1893 and it is currently the national flower.
I grow this plant outside in a small raised bed. Last winter we experienced twenty five degrees. I threw a frost blanket over it but it suffered a lot of damage. About half of it was killed but the part that wasn't killed wasn't even damaged. I am amazed that it survived twenty five degrees.
She's very pretty. Vanda Miss Joaquim 'Agnes' (is her full name).
I have one and I just love her. Just got a white one and I can't wait for her to blossom.
I like it a lot, especially the beautiful colors blended in it. Is it a very tall growing plant? A white one may be pretty also, but I do like this one.
Thanks for the info. I am surprised to find out about the cold tolerance since I only saw my firends growing in the tropics and always envied their specimens.
