The flower size and the flower count supports this guess, but color is not what you'd expect from these parents. With a parent such as Sidhi Gold, (miniatum x Sagarik Gold) you'd expect its progeny to have an orange-yellow color. Asctm. curvifolium is generally red to red-orange shades. Although the white-pink base and magenta markings resemble Vanda luzonica color, the flower shape is not characteristic of luzonica at all.

Ascocentrum species usually are compact growers, throw lots of keikis (forming clumps) and the inflorescences and flower size are diminutive (compared to Vanda) but ascocentrum are very floriferous.

Perhaps Naoki can ask the nursery where she bought the plant to confirm the name (label) and ask if there are other plants in their inventory with the same name / label to compare? A photo of the whole plant will help too, as well as tell where on the inflorescence the first flower appears?

I love these intrigues!
WOW! YOU ARE GOOD!

I am still learning everything there is to know about my favorite orchid - the vanda (alliance). I've had the pleasure to study with David Grove, THE Vanda guru, during AOS judges' training.

Will do a bit more checking to get closer to an ID. ITM, check out the nursery for confirmation of label.

Happy growing!
