Because the inflorescence is well-covered with long-lasting flowers, Rhv. Herbert Kurihara has been mericloned for use in cut flower trade and is also widely available at big box stores. (Lowe's stores in NH had a huge inventory of Rhv. Herbert Kurihara Pink at Mother's Day 2009. And the rhynchovanda (properly named vandachostylis) is a flower of choice for lei-making.
Susanne, keep up the great growing! I'd be very disappointed to hear that you'd given up on vandae.
