Default The bloominest orchids in my Vanda arsenal!

Well, hands down, these two bloom more than just about anything in my greenhouse, but definitely the most of my Vandas. The orange one is Ascda. Su-Fun Beauty, and it blooms like clockwork, 2-3 times a year. Beginning of summer and winter, it pushes out 1-2 spikes full of flowers.
The purple one is Vasco. Pine River Pink, a very popular hybrid. It blooms spring-summer, and this is it's third consecutive spike. About the time the flowers are starting to fall off one spike, the next one is starting to open....and it smells good, too!

Jasen-Must run in the Pine River Family as I have Pine River Blue and it's the same. Couple times a year and usually with two spikes. I love the bright orange of Su-Fun Beauty. I have one but waiting for it to bloom for the first time for me. Thanks for the pics.

Yeah, I had a successful cross of the V. tesselatta x Vasco. Pine River Pink, I figured I'd try to mix that multi-flowering gene with some tesselations. They are in the flask right now.....a few flasks, actually.

They are beautiful, Jasen. I keep looking at the Vasco. Pine River pictures in the growers lists and thinking I should order one of those. I have been afraid to because I thought they are such huge plants. Yours looks like a managable size. I should re-think about this, which one, pink or blue?????

Marilyn - I vote BLUE as it is a deep beautiful blue, with many flowers (at least with mine). They are manageable unlike vandas but in time they do get somewhat taller. Good luck....gotta' have a Pine River.

Quote - gotta' have a Pine River.

I agree, but I want one that is DEEP blue, not a faded blue. Any suggestions where I can find a really dark blue one? I am unable to go to a grower and pick out the dark color which I would want, but I have seen pictures of Pine River 'Blue' which are not a deep color.

Sometimes I wish I lived in Florida near all the great Vanda growers......wouldn't that be a disaster, letting me run free among all those beautiful plants. I would need a uhaul to get me home, and a bank loan.

Please, if anyone knows where I can buy a VERY DEEP BLUE one, let me know.

Marilyn

I have never seen one that is deep blue. All the Pine River Blues that I've seen almost have a pink look to them. Believe it or not, I got this one at Walmart, about two years ago.

Hi Marilyn - I don't know how deep blue is deep blue but this is mine from last year. It is now putting another spike, for the second time this year. I got lucky with mine as I bought on e-bay. A friend had one and I wanted, but was before I knew about all the sources around in Fla. Good luck!
