Thanks. I got a nbs seedling of tricolor v. suavis too. I hope i can get a white back ground with spots, as it is my favourite variety. Mine is seed grown cross so, not sure how it going to turn out.
I just ordered one of these. I hope I didn't make a mistake in doing so.
I can't help but wonder how mine is gonna look. After seeing all the variants, and learning that it's heavily fragrant, I'm actually kinda excited about it.
You will not regret having this beautiful orchid. Once it established in your environment, it will bloom periodically. Unfortunately for me, it does not like hot weather.
Just give it lots of sunlight. Good thing it can tolerate low temperature up to 15 deg centigrade (60 F).
This one is Vanda tricolor with noticeably different labellum form than suavis variant. Also very fragrant before mid afternoon with scent of vanilla. Vanda tricolor is mostly found in mountainous region of West Java while Vanda suavis can also be found in Bali and Flores island.
Could you tell me how do you grow Vanda tricolor?I got a keiki from my friend and is like 7 inches tall, how big it has to be to bloom?

Vanda Tricolor come from java island in Indonesia, grow in midlle to high land. in the branch of tree and can get full sun. Vanda tricolor can bloom from 30 cm. i never see vanda tricolor bloom in lowland. minimum 300 dpl and above can bloom.
I'm on the hunt for some Vandas. Going shopping at RF Orchids in mid January and 1st and 4th ones have now made the list. They are unusual and beautiful. Thanks for the great pictures.
I bought a small one at the Denver Orchid Society's auction this Spring. It only had two leaves, now it has 5! I hope it blooms next Spring, its grown quit a bit and looks healthy! It gets sun until about 1PM, is on pebbles with water and I spray it every morning. I let it dry out before watering again.
