Smile V. denisoniana and V. brunnea in bloom

V. denisoniana ( pic 1 & 2 ) and V. brunnea ( pic 3 & 4 ) are in bloom now. Since I bought them when they are in spike, I cannot take any credits. They are so fragrant from the evening through the morning.

The color of my denisoniana is much lighter than what I am used to.

mollycart1, I do believe you have 2 varieties of V.denisoniana there. ie, your V.brunnea is not brunnea.

Agree 100 % with Roy : there are 2 varieties of denisoniana in those pict. The first is 'normal" denisoniana and the second is denisoniana hebraica. var hebraica can have spotts or "lines" and is the only denioniana without plain colour. I have never seen a brunnea of this colour but a denisoniana var hebraica yes. The shape of dorsal sepal is looking like denisoniana too . And there is also a orange/yellow blotch at the base of the labelum. All of that makes in my opinion a denisoniana hebraica not brunnea.
Anyway they are very beautiful and it's a wonderful bloom, good job Mollycart !

Roy and Philippe, thank you for clarifying it for me. As I saw the flower, I was a bit skeptical. They look same except of some spots and smells same.

I will change the tag.

Hi Naoki,
They are beautiful...and in response to your comment about the blooms on the first one being much lighter in color...this is the nature of V. denisoniana...there is a tremendous amount of color variation from one plant to the next...as you've undoubtedly discovered through other posts to this thread.

In any regard, they are both beautiful additions to your collection. Congratulations!
