Ascocentrum christensonianum
The species is from Vietnam. It is a regular bloomer and the bright colored blooms are very attractive!

Beautiful!!!!!! Thanks for the photo. I bought one last fall but it hasn't bloomed yet. I made a big goof and didn't cool it this winter, I hope it will not hold my mistake against me.

Yes, it certainly is a beauty! Splendid color too! Marilyn has one too? Marilyn, just how many vandas DO you have? What size is your basement? It is amazing to me that you can grow so many beautiful vandas down there.

The species grows well outdoors all year round here.
It likes strong light and long-time sunlight exposure is needed to bloom.

My plant is about 20cm tall now. The seedling is able to bloom while it is about 10cm tall.

The foliage is really unique! I have never seen a ascocentrum quite so red befroe. It is really pretty, and the blooms are quite nice too!

The reddish leaves was due to the strong sunlight these days.
Other ascocentrums, such as A. curvifolium or A. ampullaceum, will turn their leaves red or purple if put under strong light.
