Default V. denosiana, V. bensoni x V. pumila and Asctm. ampullaceum - orchid show finds

Hey guys,

Just wanted to share my haul from the show yesterday with the vanda lovers. I also got a Den. and Phal. mariae, but they are posted in the "in bloom" section.

Pics 1, 2 and 3 are V. denosiana - extrememly fragrant, a floral type smell! A really nice smell and starts in late afternoon lasting until early morning.

Pics 4 and 5 are the V. bensoni x V. pumila - also very fragrant, kind of chocolatey smelling. The color does not do it justice in the pic, it is more tesselated than shows through.

The last 4 are the Asctm. ampullaceum. It "had" 11 spikes, but one was infested with some sort of bug. It appeared to be feasting on the buds, so I cut that spike off and picked off the few other bugs, then blasted with some soap. Hopefully, the other blooms are oK. The seemed to still be opening fine this morning. Anyway, no frangrance, but two plants in the basket, and 10 spikes to go!

I fell head over heels in LOVE with that Asctm. ampullaceum. It is such a huge plant and such a pretty color. It's one to die for. I never see plants that size in Michigan. If you get tired of it you know where you can send it, even just a keki.

OOPS.I forgot to mention I will be getting more Vandas tomorrow. I'll post pics after I get home.

Marilyn, I guess you could say that it is a huge plant, for a mini. Or, a mini compared to a vanda. It is about 7 or 8 inches tall. I couldn't believe when I found it and it was hidden away with 11 spikes on it! I also noticed tow little spikes starting on the smaller plant too! I will definitely keep you in mind if I come across another like this or if it ever makes a keiki. I can't wait to see your pics.
