V Cindy Banks has a spike!
I am so happy to tell you all that my V Cindy Banks finally has a spike. I got it 18 months ago as a cutting off the parent plant at the Bonnet House Gardens in Ft Lauderdale. They sell cuttings as a fund raiser for the garden. I was so worried about it, but finally I have a small spike with about 8 buds. Hopefully they don't blast. This was a big cutting, at least 18 " with lots of leaves and roots but I saw no evidence of previous spikes. It has grown another 8-10" in the last year. I guess it just needs to be big to bloom. Does anyone else have this plant? Any tips on growing this one? I will post a pic soon.

I have both a V. Cindy Banks and a V. Cindy Banks 'whitey'. I have gotten the whitey to bloom multiple times, but the regular one has been hard as heck for me to bloom...I have faith that this year, it just might grace me with some beautiful flowers...but so far nada.

Susan, What a beaty! The color of the flower is fantastic. I bought a tiny seedling from Ebay a while ago. Mine will be a long way to go. In the meantime, I will just admire yours.

Thanks Molly! I got a cutting that was over 2 feet long back in Jan 2008 and it still took a while to bloom. As far as I can tell, this is the first bloom for this plant. It is over 3 feet long now.
