How to save it? ;( Female
Unhappy How to save it? ;(

It's my favourite, white vanda (V. Merr. L. Velthnis x V. Rasri Gold)... and I need help! How to save it? It has only one root and, as you can see, 5 leaves... It keeps loosing leaves and I don;t know what to do! It has enough water (I suppose- I water it every day, moist it and the humidity isn't low- about 75%).
Me and my vanda beg for help! ;(

Hi Ania, I'm no expert at all. But my chids seem to dig me. So here's what I do with my sick babies.

I sphag and bag, those type of chids, with no roots barely.
But with large Vanda's like her-
I put them in a large basket, and put sphag 'lighty' around the root base. And water it, as needed. Letting dry out again before watering.
And in no time, I get new roots!! Works every time for me!
Good luck with that baby! I'm sure you'll get her back if you try this out. It works for me!

I tried giving it sphagnum... but vanda only lost 7 leaves and 3 roots So I don't know what to do. I also don;t like putting vandas in sphagnum- it doesn't dry fast, and vandas like air in roots...
But thanks for help

Hi ania. have you tried using super thrive on it. you may get new roots. make sure you give it agood systemic fungicide. it has stem or root roat. so you nee dto sp;v that in ordoer to keep it. an dkeep it shady and well watered. mainly water the leaves so they dont dehydrate too much since theres no roots left. i hope that helped. use clearese 3336 or dithatne and thiomyle together .

I have just got one Wanda, and have really no experience with this chid... but i did manage to save the one i have after loosing all of its roots, and over the half of its leafs...

When i bougth it, the leafs where all dried out, same as the roots, and they where all gone within a month.

I pu it into my terrarium (slider terrarium) on top of some living Sphagnum moss. Adjusted the light and left it alone... hoping for the best.
Sprayed it with warm water several times a week, and made sure the moss was always moist and the Wanda never covered.

After nearly another month, i noticed a little "bump" on the steam, and two months later, it grew a thick new root.

Then i started to fertilize a little once a week, and kept it in the terrarium. Theres high humidity and warmth, and air as well. I have a fan i set on once a day, and thats about it...

Now, finally, it seems like its going to survive! Its got another "bump", witch i assume is a new root coming out soon.

Wish you the best of luck!
