Wow looks like a really good purchase !!

By the way your 'worry' about the spike reminded me of when one of my 'chids spiked (Asco.Miniatum)and I took a photo labelling it 'bud blast? As it looked very yellow... & it turned out it was ok as was the colour of the flower was orange and just looked like( to my inexperienced eyes) like it had got too much sun !
I look forward to seeing photos of it in bloom!

Swamper, sorry about the eardrum, that sounds awful!

Jackie, sorry they are all so similar. I saw one of the same i have from Smiley at the show this weekend that looked so much darker and less tesselated. It was really interesting to see how much variation they can have!
That is a cool way to mount a 'chid of that size! I have an Aerides that hasn't been happy in it's pot., most of the roots in the pot rotted away but I have three huge long roots that are doing great! I always thought the pot was a pain in the you know what! Thanks for the photo's!

Thanks guys for reassuring me. I am very hopeful that those two spikes will give me quite a show. I am so excited about it!

I was pretty surprised to see how they had mounted it to the tree fern totem too, and thought they just did that for the show or something, but sure enough, some of the roots have worked their way through the pole and are coming out the back side. It seems pretty happy like that. I have just been treating it like a vanda but with less sun.

I will definitely post pics when it gets further along! Thanks everyone!
