I have a vanda noid that my wife and I got in Hawaii in 2006 it doesn't seem to be getting anywhere just stays about the same size and no blooms it was in bloom when we bought it so I know it can do it. It has some real slow growing new growth maybe it is just me that thinks it is slow if you look close you can see it. It doesn't look unhealthy. Here is a picture I think in middle of 07
My guess would be that it is not getting enough light where you are keeping it to bloom. What area do you live in, is it indoors or out, etc. There is also a possibility of it not getting enough nutrients. Vandas are heavy feeders and can be fed more often than many other orchids. If you can mention some more info about the growing conditions you will definitely get a more accurate diagnosis.
Being in Indiana all my orchids have to come in for the winter. I have taken your advice and moved my vanda to a better lighted area and will start giving it more nutrients in the mean time.
Living in Michigan, I've stayed away from Vanda, even though I'd love to have some because I don't have the temperatures nor the sun light to grow them properly. As has been stated, they need LOTS of good strong light.
thanks for the info biker I am beginning to think the same. If I had known when we got it it would be so hard to get blooms we would have passed on it. I am going to put it in the lightest place in the house and keep a grow light on it.
Once it warms up, you might want to consider moving it outside. For now though, you should be able to put it in a window that gets strong sunlight through the window. It shouldn't burn the vanda either since the window will be cutting down the intensity of the sun. I have some Paphs getting light this way and they haven't been hurt, so I am sure a vanda would be just fine!
