Vanda Noid Update
Five of her enchanting blooms have now opened and she's getting prettier every day. Her blossoms are unscented but the bees just love her. I hope their visits don't blast her blooms.

Junebug, your Vanda is fabulous. I use to have Vanda TMA and Vanda Josephine van Brero (sp). Both plants look very much alike and my guess is that your plant is either or.

Thank you Jerry. I managed to find one photo (not close-up though) of a Vanda TMA and it did look very similar. I nearly googled myself to death trying to find a photo of a JVB that hasn't been crossed, but had no luck. Did either of your Vandas have very pronounced veining and a rust colored lip like this one? Many of the JVB crosses describe a rose colored lip, but this one is definitely rust and the colors are intense for a pastel variety.

Hey Swamper,
Thank you for asking. This is the "stubborn one" that I referred to in so many prior threads. She habitually produced an assortment of mystery bumps, and under developed spikes for the better part of last year. She has finally, finally, produced her first bloom and I'm so excited.

Thank you. Yes, it was. Her blooms are so pretty and unique looking. I've never seen this variety at Orchid Shows. Instead of dangling roots, she has roots that spring out like they're looking for a tree to grab on to. Her momma was gigantic and had many fully developed flowering keikis and a sprawling growth habit. This one is producing her first basal keiki which I don't intend to remove. Over time, and with any luck, she should produce many more. If and when that day comes I plan to remove one and attach it to a palm tree.

Junebug, it has been so long since I had V. JVB and V. TMA that I can't remember the details of the flowers. Peachy is about the only thing that comes to mind other than prolific and profuse bloomers. I did find some decent pictures though. See what you think?
No. 1 is JVB
The rest are TMA
Note the back of the petal on the third and fourth plant. Looks a little lavender. Should be a good identifier.

Oh, thank you for posting your photos. Wow, those are pretty! After looking at your photos I'd have to say that the V. TMA looks very, very similar to mine. Your photos are showing paler colors but your Vanda may have bloomed while the temperatures were higher. There is a pinkish/lavender glow on the upper petals of mine too. The spike on this one began developing in mid-November and it's been a little cooler since then. Do you happen to know what month these photos were taken in...and did you live in Central Florida when you grew them? The only real difference I can see is in color intensity and mine has more pronounced veining in the petals. This could be due to the differences in growing temperatures, lighting and camera angle). This is how my colors appear in the shade.
