Default My Vanda House with Pictures

Santa has not arrived yet, but my camera got fixed. I now can post pictures.

Here is my Vanda House. The measurement is 48"(H)x38"(W)x36"(D). It is made out of PVC pipes covered with clear shower curtains. It is getting crowed.

Ross, technical difficulties. In other words, I am a bit computer challenged. They are edited and posted. I also added V. Robert's Delight.

Awsum! Naoki. I love what you have done. That would work with any high humidity plant. Great job. Glad you got the pics posted.

I love your vanda house. It looks like your plants are happy there. Do you need to do anything to raise the humidity, and do you have any fans running in there? I have something similar, only smaller, on a metal cart. I have trouble keeping my humidity up.

Vandas(and crosses) are among my favorites. Your Robert's Delight looks great, and the color is fantastic. I just bought a Robert's Delight seedling but it may be a loooong time before I see any blooms.

Thank you everybody for nice compliments.

Marilyn, the humidity in the area is around 60%. When the plants are watered and I spray the water inside in the morning, the humidity goes up to 75%. The excess water sit on the grid and evaporates (I think.). The room temp stays around 70 degree during the days and 60 degree during the nights.

As far as the air movement, please see the first picture. The fan is stationed at the other side 24/7.

In order to avoid the direct air, I hang a piece of the show curtain which can be rolled up for the watering.

The room I grow my orchids is a garage.

Great idea. I think I am going to do the same. A few questions, where did you get the clear shower curtains and how do you attach the curtains to the PVC? I can't find clear show curtains. The ones I have found are called clear, but are patterned or they are actually shower curtain liners and are translucent. A source would help. I would also like to know where you got the trays and the plastic grating? Thanks and once again good idea.

Hi, Uechi. I found those clear shower curtains at Target. One of those least expensive ones. Due to the size, I attached two together.

I also used "a glue gun" to attach the curtains to the PVC. I wanted to make it like a slip cover. However, it was a bit slippery. So, once the basic shape was done. I attached some key sections such as the upper corners with a bit of glue.

Hope it helps. Good luck.
