You are not the only one. I hung mine outside under a huge Crepe Myrtle with a sprinkler system as I was traveling for about a month. Low and behold when I returned my V. Pranerm Ornette X V. Tessellata had been polinated. I was told recently that if you send the pod away to be grown out they need it to be "green" and not brown dried out. I think it is a difficult procedure if you try to grow the seeds your self, because of all the sterilization needed, incubation period, air circulation, etc., etc. Good luck and let us know what you are going to do with the pod. Mine? I will just cut off and pitch unless someone ask for it.
