You are AWSOME!! and just settled down my nerves about the new "babies" coming into my home.

My plan is to do this - I would like to have a few indoors to enjoy more often, so I'm thinking about placing the Phala's in my computer room, I have a S. facing window that has glazed windows and a ceiling fan always on low, I think it will be a good environment.

For the cattleya, knowing they need lots of bright light I may also put her indoors with the Phala's, potted and watch how she does, if I notice signs of too much or too little light I'll adjust.

The Vanda's are going on the porch in baskets and may 1-2 on slats attacked to a porch wall. I love the look of that and I think they will thrive outdoors for me.

As soon as I get the babies home and planted, I'll take some pics and put them up on here.

I'm sure as they adjust to the new surroundings and I mess up a few times, I'll have plenty of questions.

Thanks again for all your great advice, I was seriously freaking out when I read they were coming in dry root as I've always purchased already potted at Asian festivals we have down here. You eased my nerves a great deal.

We are VERY humid down here, just ask my hair and from the boards I just learned a HUGE mistake I've been making.

I've been misting my plants in the evening around sundown. From now on, no more misting past 11am in the summer, and 9am winter. That should give them plenty of time to dry off.

A few website I've been on have said right after replanting you should mist daily with diluted strength fertilizer to help with shock etc.

What's your take on that?

I really don't know about giving the fertilizer daily when newly replanted. I think that might be directed more for plants that have been divided. However, you can do a good soak in a diluted fertilizer and supertrive (or you can just do fertilizer if you don't have superthrive on hand or don't want to buy it) for 30 minutes or so when they arrive. I think the vandas could handle a very diluted fertilizer on a daily basis, but I don't know about the others.

Just a side note, I don't know if the Cattleya will be OK in the house, but it is definitely worth a try. If it doesn't work out you can move it outside and then bring it in when in flower.

I can't wait to see the pics of your new babies!
