Hey Folks,
I went to my local orchid society monthly meeting Thursday night, and was stunned towards the end of the evening to discover that I won both of the Special Gold Ribbon awards...one for best in show for species, and the other for best in show hybrids!
Both plants were vandaceous, so I'm posting them together here.
It was just amazing to me...and to think that the person designated to choose the plants for the awards is an AOS judge.
In any event, I thought that I'd share my good fortune with you. here are pics of both the whole plants, and close-ups of the blooms (unfortunately, the hall where the meetings are held is not set up too well for photography...perhaps I should fix that
). The photos are posted in this order...and by the way, the Vanda is about 5 feet tall:
Species: Christensonia vietnamica
Hybrid: V. Yuuko Iso-Sumida ‘Ted Sumida’
