You are correct that they are resurrection ferns. Or at least that is what I have heard them called. They perk up when it rains. I don't know if they are smaller sometimes, but that is the kind I see around Orlando.
And yes, it does start off much lighter. This morning my V. Tharab Blue started opening which is a cross with a coreulea and it is much lighter then I remembered it being. It will darken up too as it ages. So neat, they always keep me guessing.
Congrats on your two spikes at once (don't you just love it when they do that...especially when it's on a plant as beautiful as this one)! Blues are my favorites...for right now anyway!
