I think that story of P. Joaquim is quite interesting .
So here it is for those interested :
At the end of XIX century in Singapor, the owner of a beautiful house, Agnes Joaquim was growing Papilionanthes( those plants were still named as Vanda at this time) : P. teres and P. hookeriana, it was in 1893.
A day, she was so surprised to discovery a wonderful flower different from others between P. teres and P. hookeriana. Miss Joaquim brough this flower to Henry Ridley, Director of Singapor Botanical Garden. The conclusion was that this flower was a "natural hybrid" between the 2 species and pollen has been bought by an insect. The plant and flower was named Vanda "Miss Joaquim" but nowadays it is known as Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim and it is the national flower of Singapor.
The plants was grown in England by Sir Trevor Lawrence who was able to show a 2 m flowering plant at the RHS.
Then 28 young plants were offered to the orchids nursery of Lester Byron at Hilo (Hawaii). Lester Byron made this plant veru popular in Hawaii.
Hope you like this small (real) story about the first well know Vanda Hybrid.
All my best
