Something has eaten part of the buds that have not bloomed yet. I am angry :(( about it, but the blooms that are there are very beautiful. Can anyone tell me what has been eating the buds? I bought some organocide today, if I use it will it cause the blooms to fall off? :scratchhead:

It's such a shame that something is eating the buds! :( Is it possible for you to post a picture picture of the damage? I have trouble seeing exactly what it is since the pics are a bit small! I generally am very careful about what I spray on plants in bloom. Some products, while good on foliage, have devastating effects on the blooms.

I hope these will help in identifying what has attacked my vanda buds.

thanks everyone!

Thanks for the bigger picture, that helps alot! :) I would be very tempted to say that caterpillars are the culprits. Since those eaten buds aren't going to survive anyway, why don't you cut them open and see if anything has set up house in them?

I have a grasshopper problem. I have never seen any catapillers before. I also notice sometimes these bugs that look like a cricket, love to eat the root tips on my vandas, do you think they could be the culprits?

Grasshopper/crickets could be the problem too. But I don't know how you would deal with those!
