It looks to be spiking. Very odd looking on a terete since the leaves are so different. Anyway thought I'd show some before pics....I'm pretty happy about it
Who else has this one? I'd love to see your pics.
Hi

I too have a Miss Joaquim. (I believe it is spelt Joaquim). I had mine in shade house for a few years and got no flowers. The growth had become so tall with no flowers so now I have repotted it and moved it outside to the pool area to just about full sun all day. Full sun seems a bit harsh, but from what I read this is what they like. Nothing has happened yet but I am still hoping. I read that they won't flower until the growth reaches above the top of the support they are on. I read that they like lots of water and fertilizer.

I am jealous that you have a flower spike when yours appears to be under a verandah. The flower spike looks nice and healthy. Hope you like the flowers.

Does anybody have any tips on how to coax some flowers out of Miss Joaquim? Is it necessary to water every day and how often should they be fertilized?

Someone must have some good secrets to share.

Sue

Hi Sue...

as a vanda, she should be sprayed every day. I fertilize once a week but most vandas can take more than that.

Yup like Susanne said pretty much the same except just to be clear, when I spray, it's a shower. I soak them good and come back in ten minutes and do it again. I repeat the cycle in the afternoon around 3:30.
I also fertilize once a week.
Ps. I think you are right on the spelling of Joaquim but you may have mispelled spelt. LOL Sorry I couldn't resist.

A few years ago, I was playing a computer word game and "spelt" was one of the answers! I was like DUH!!! You'd think a word-game maker would know how to spell, right!? I was kind of ticked about it...only to find out that "spelt" is an accepted form of spelling!

One big for me!

Thanks Susanne B. I am from Oz and spelt is an accepted form of the spelling down here. I wasn't going to humiliate Swamper by carrying on about it by having a bit . Good looking men who grow fantastic orchids deserve to have the last say. to you Swamper.
