Hi puffy,
This vase culture thing all started for me last year when I read this thread:
http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ass-vases.html
My vase is pretty big and heavy (approx. 1.5 gallons) so there is no way it will topple over. I have hooks and wires to stops my vanda from falling out.
I am not sure when to give vandas a high potassium feed. This is my first blooms and they are still blooming!
This may be of some help:

I just fill up the vase everyday or second day with rain water, let it soak for 30mins and feed every week.
The fan is always 'on' and the temps are around 32-16 C, depending on the weather.
Peter from the Netherlands has given me a tip to initiate spike: try to aim for 8-10C day and night temperature difference.
My vandas also gets lots of light from my window (sometimes over 6000fc) in the morning.
I am really new to growing orchids, especially vandas but I think I am hooked for life!
Just between you and me, I am ordering some more 'warm' growing vandas to try out in the vase. Hehehe.
Keep the questions coming, there are some real orchid gurus on the OB!
Cheers,
Juliet
