Would you really work for orchids?
I was thinking of purchasing a vanda orchid as I have seen them but never owned one The Vandas that I have seen are small with georgeous flowers. I didn't realize they grew that large. Would this be a problem indoors???
Thanks.....Faz.

Thanks Faz, I love them too. There are people that do grow them indoors and that's about the extenct of my knowledge. I'm sure you can find threads in here on how it's done.....I'm grateful as heck to be able to grow them outdoors though.

When I had all my vandas and ascocendas a few years back, taking care of my orchids WAS work. When does a hobby become an ADDICTION? When it consumes all your free time and all your discretionary income. I have none of the latter of late, so I've gone off of orchids cold turkey. Kind of wish I had saved some of that money, in retrospect, but, hey, I enjoyed the plants while I had them. Any other orchid addicts out there that have had to cut back on their "fix"?

There are some Ascocendas (hybrid between Asconcentrum and Vanda) that stay small .. for example this hybrid - Rumrilla Margaret's Jewels IN BUD: Orchids By Hausermann
It is said to stay under 12 inches tall ...
and Ascocentrum ampullaceum and Ascocentrum miniatum - Two species that stays under 8 inches tall -
Ascocentrum ampullaceum (Miniature): Orchids By Hausermann
- Ascocentrum miniatum (Miniature): Orchids By Hausermann
I hope this helps
I don't grow these so I don't know what their growing needs are but you might want to do a search as I have seen these mentioned on the board or post another thread inquiring about these
