Al, you can't grow any type of vandas? It seems like Ive read articles where people up north have grown vandas succesfully, maybe not bifurcated ones but some type.
I've seen them in green houses but my house, at least, is much to dry with the hot air heat.

I am trying a 'cool grower' now, it's liking the summer outside but we'll see about the winter.

Thanks for the kind words.

Taipan, thanks for the information.

Though it is from high elevation, it does well in our outdoor condition. The plant has been in my garden for more than 5 years and the only problem is to keep high humidity for it, especially during the dry season here.

Pheli,
Thanks for your post...and your pic! very beautiful..I'm jealous!
I am glad that you mentioned the humidity and folded leaves part...mine has been growing well...lots of roots and 2 new growths...but no flowers for the 2 years I've had it...but the leaves are not open. I have it near the top of my shade house, where it might be too dry, between the hot daytime temps and my fan.
I'll see what it does when I move it lower where the fan wind won't be as strong, and there will be less drying from thesun...and therefore more humidity.
