My little Haraella retrocalla .... first bloom.
Hey,
I know these little guys are frequent bloomers but this is my first bloom from start to finish since I got it. Looks like I will have 3 more coming.

They are neat little guys. I have one that is almost always in bloom. It will quit for a month, and then bloom for 2 . . . and so on and on.

Nice first bloom!
Hey Neil,
I wasn't familiar with Haraella retrocalla until your post here. Thanks for sharing what I think is an unusual and beautifully interesting plant...I particularly like the big lip. :-) I'll have to keep an eye out for this little gem at the local nurseries. What are it's growing requirements similar to...phals, angrecums, or something else?
Happy growing ~ David

Hey David,
I grow this along side my Phals with a minimum of 55% humidity. As long as the humidity is high they can adjust to many conditions I have heard. Most of the ones I have seen here are marked Haraella odorata and are supposed to be fragrant. However, many have trouble detecting a sent whether it is labled ordorata or retrocalla. There is no sent from mine.

Great little guys, aren't they Neil! My odorata is one of the most reliable bloomers I have. Don't feel bad about not smelling anything. I can't on mine either.

Thanks for the culture info Neil...I'll keep it next to the plant's name on my wish list.

That is so cute, Neil! Nice growing. Too bad they need high humidity as that is something I can't provide.
