Dyakia hendersoniana
This is the first time that this plant has bloomed for me. My plant looks very fragile and does not seem to be a very easy grower. It is growing in a 3-inch plastic pot with a few chunks of large orchid bark. The roots have a lot of aeration and good drainage. I have it growing under 50% shade cloth. The flowers are small (about 1/2-inch natural spread.) The petals and sepals are dark pink. The lip is white. The two inflorescences are about 6-1/2 inches tall. There is a third inflorescence that is shorter and with buds only. This species was previously known as Ascocentrum hendersonianum.

Hello Hawaiin Sunshine
I think with spikes like that your plant seems OK. In BKK we grow ours under 60% - or sometimes 70% shade cloth ( all our spatulate Den's, are under 50% ) & the temp may be a bit warmer. Also we dont use any bark - just a plain plastic basket & water every day.

That's a beauty. Wow, two spikes. My tiny one is just stating to bloom for the first time, but with only one spike. I am really surprised how long it took from the time the spike formed until the buds started to open.
I have mine in a coconut shell with only a tiny bit of spag.

Mine's in spike for second time. I agree they seem rather spindly with few roots compared to other plants.

Well, spindly or not I think it is gorgeous! I have never seen or heard of this one. Thank you for the pictures. I can't wait to see more members photos of theirs. Will someone post one of the whole plant, and potting setup? Thanks!

Thanks Ross for the photos. I might do the same thing now that I've seen your mounted plant.
