This thread is a good example of several things.

1. What orchids not to get if you are new.
2. Learn everything about an orchid before you buy it.
3. Hijacking
4. Typing in all caps. Its use is meant as yelling or expressing extreme emphasis.
5. Emoticons - they should be banned.

Default how not...

Ouch... You know the first time I drove a car...ever...I was a "newbie" and I'm still driving..and haven't killed or injured anyone..and that was a looooong time ago!... I think everyone can and must decide for themselves what they might like to grow...even if others don't agree.. I have a pretty green thumb...and who knows, I just might succeed at my own choices. but thanks for sharing your opinion.

Bye bye now.

I'm right behind you Pixiedust (anything like angeldust?) I just got my flask yesterday from Rubeninorchids while wondering thru homestead and the redlands. I love it there. Here's a pic or 3... not to hijack or anything

Where do you get a ghost orchid? I saw the movie based on The Orchid Thief, a New Yorker story about an eccentric character who steals them from the Everglades. Are they legal? Very expensive? I'd love one, needless to say.

Hey Suz, living in Boston you might have to buy them online. They are legal to buy. But illegal as heck to take/poach like Mr. Laroche did. Ruben In Orchids
is my source cause I live minutes from there. I believe most people here shop for it on ebay or oak hill or.....?

Smile OK SILLY ???????

I NEED TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE TO PUT A STICK IN THE ORCHIDS OR IF YOU CAN JUST LET THEM GROW ALL NATURAL.. BECAUSE I KINDA TOOK THE STICKS OUT OF THE ONES I BOUGHT BECAUSE I WANTED THEM TO GROW ALL NATURAL LIKE YOU KNOW. I COLLECT RAIN WATER AND FILTER THREW COFFEE FILTERS AND SAVE IT FOR WATER TIME. BUT I AM CONCERNED MY ORCHID HAS A SPIKE THEN I REPLANTED AND TOOK OUT THE STICK IT STOPPED BLOOMING FROM THAT MOMENT ON. I WANT SO BAD FOR THEM TO GROW LIKE THEY WOULD IN THE WILD. ?
