regarding Don's comment on the blue vs purple...I was at an orchid show this spring at Longwood gardens and my wife was taken with several vandas because of their satiny purple/blue color. I took several pictures with variation is settings (white balance etc) and could never reproduce that color. They alway came out looking like the one pictured here.
