Default Chiloschista usneoides in bloom

I noticed that the first flower opened this morning. I am amazed that this is the orchid that thrives the most in my NYC apt. I can kill houseplants but this thing shines on. Who knew?

Um, this additional text is to address animated icons. I know it veers off path but has anyone seen the man beating a dead horse? I thought my use of bananas was excessive. Gosh.

That is soooooo fantastic! It's just beautiful! I love the wood mount you have it on too!!!

How are you growing this one? I've been interested in this one but was scared to try it.

P.S. Regarding the "dead horse" animated icon. It is not my personal favorite. I wouldn't mind if it disappeared altogether.

Now, the banana dance icon, I truly love. The whole fun of that one is to be able to use it excessively. *big grin*

i was undecided for a while—it was in the bathroom near a west facing window. now, it is in a south facing window with a humidifier directly under it.

i doubt my ability to grow things with such a simple set up but this plant has A LOT of new root growth.

That is one of the coolest orchids I have seen. It looks so happy. The flower is beautiful. I would love to see it when they all open, be sure to repost.

That's an awesome orchid! I love the roots and the mount suits it so well!! I have a Chilochista lunifera that has just put out new growths - one is a new set of leaves, but I'm hoping that the others are spikes!! Fingers crossed! Hopefully, in a few years time, mine will have the roots that your's has. Thanks for sharing this beauty!
