WOW!!!! Great Neo! Do you know what variety it is? I have a couple of the wild type and a shutennou (purple flowers) and hisui (green flowers with a white lip). I hope post a pic of the flowers when they open.

I grow all my neos in sphag in the japanese pots outside year round and they love it. They also do great on a windowsill.

BTW, if anyone is interested Orchidmania still has some neos left when I was there this past Sunday. They are only open for sales on most Sundays between 11am to about 3-4pm, deoending on the day and the numbers of volunteers. Check them out, they have a nice assortment of orchids, including species.

On another note, neos should be grown in popularity and availability in the US because Seed Engei from Japan is renting space to hold their Neos and Den. moniliformes on the pennisula (so I've heard). So we should be seeing more neos and den. moniliforme in the near future. Which is good for us

I've seen the website for Seed Engei but it still isn't finished. . .so how does one order or find out what they've got? Have you ordered from them? If so, how did it go?

The Neo is still going strong. A lot of the roots that had stopped growing when I received it have started to regrow. The 'crab claws' are definitely spikes. I just did a count today and there are 18 spikes in total in varying stages of development. I cannot wait till this guy is in full bloom!!

OMG! If ANY of mine ever get that big, healthy & full of buds, I'll be soooo happy!

I've checked their website before too, also to no avail. I have talked to the owner at the Pacific Orchid Expo in SF this year, but his english wasn't that good. As for buying online, I haven't had the chance to do that b/c of the website.

I know that the bonsai store in japantown SF sells some of their plants. If I hear anything about how to purchase plants, I'll let you know. I'll ask around and see what I can find out.

Till then, the search goes on. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I got the monster Neo from Golden Gate (Orchidmania). Do you know off the top of your head what Neos are left? On second thought, I think I should have brought home more when I was there

I got several varieties from Seed Engei when she was selling them on ebay. I got Shutennou, Houmeiden, and Seikai from her. Great prices! She will be back in the states in July to sell more plants.

If I remember correctly, they only had the wild type. I'll let you know tmw when I stop by the greenhouse.

Hmm... there was another big specimen furan there. I'd be surprised if it was still there.

Yep... the huge neo is still there. There are still some neos at Orchidmania. Most of them are the wild type, but there are some different varieties, I don't remember which ones.
