Orchidee, you don't happen to know where the plant came from, do you? It's too much hassle to import plants... but if there are vendors already in the country, it's totally fine to ship them. Non of my usual vendors carry the Blue Magic :( Unless it has another name.... which it could.

This is the full name of my vanda 'blue magic':

Vanda Golamcos blue magic x coerulea

I am so happy for you!
The flowers are absolutely stunning!
I have the same vanda! I received it in flower last week!
What is you day/ night time temps in winter and summer? How about humidity?
I want to make my V. blue magic bloom again!
Thanks for sharing!
Cheers!
Buds!

I don't think the temps matter too much. Temps are here skyrocketting between the 10 C and 35 C.
Right now its like 25 C day and night but it started spiking with daytemps of 14 C and nighttemps of 12 C. Its all about the light. It almost gets more light then my cacti. But not too much in a single dose. I think the extensive wattering did the trick too.

Humidity is a laugh. almost 45% all the time. At night it gets something like 70%. The plant parasitises on my humidity exhaust at night ;) In the worst cases the humidity drops to 20 % at those times I water like 8 times a day.

My brother got it for me in West Vancouver on Comercial Drive, past the Park Royal mall (about 5 minutes drive from it) on the left hand side. It is own by a little Asian lady, I unfortunately don't know the name of the store though... She had several different species of Vandas as well... some beautifull burgundy ones especialy... I think that it is the only place I've ever seen them around Van...

Here are some pictures of mine:

Oh, 8 times a day! That is ALOT of watering! Congrats on your success! You deserve it!:bowing

My vanda gets a long bath in the morning (3-4 hrs), and it also gets one spraying at night.

I am in the early stages! I've only had it for one week.
How long have you had your vanda 'blue magic'?

Cheers!

Bought it in January. Always wanted to have a Vanda but they are quite rare to find and expensive, expecially the expensive kept me of until a friend of mine bought a vanda and that pulled me over to get one.

Its may now so that makes it 5 months by now. Bought the nurture lamp in march when things started to look bad. (shrinking leaves, dark green tinge's, leafs falling of, roots dying etc etc). The lamp only made everything look worse. The plant turned camo yellow and I thought I lost it. Fortunatly someone told me (orchidboard yeah!! ) that more light means more water. So I started wattering like a freak and all the sudden the roots started growing like maniacs and the leafs turned into the right color. Two weeks after that a spike popped out.

I am still not sure if I am on the right track with my vandas, so I have started a new thread on 'how to water vandas'. I need all the help I can get!;)
Seeing your vanda is very encouraging for me.:bowing
Thanks for sharing!

I wasn't able to find this vanda in Canada but I did find a vendor in the US that has them -
Natt's Orchids - pray
Look for the No. 8 in the Catalog Number column or the 23rd one down.
:D

Thanks D :)

Unfortunately I will not be smuggling anything across the border any time soon. Come to think of it... I'd gotten my Psychopsis and my mini catt from them when I went down for my neos.

No worries.... I will see if I can track down this seller in BC. It could just be that people that have them, just don't have websites.
