Hello, I got a new Vanda in the mail today, but it has some yellow streaks on the lower leaves, they are still firm and hard, no soft spots, should I cut them back?
I don't know what that is. I would not cut off any leaves unless it spreads.
There are fungi that cause yellow spots on the leaf. Normally they produce tiny brown fruiting bodies on the undersurface.
Virus can't be diagnosed without testing. Plants may have virus infection without any signs. Plants with ugly spots may be virus free. If it is a virus, the entire plants is already infected, and there is no reason to cut off leaves.
Nutritional deficiency can cause yellowing, but it is usually throughout the leaf and not discrete like this.
I would contact the seller and ask about it.
