New plant research wasn’t showing too many exact matches for this one. Vendor tag says “Dar Charm x Dar Deep Blue Seas”. Any specific care information would be appreciated… currently debating adding a few bark chunks to the small plastic pot or waiting for blooms & working into vanda basket… only in a 3~ inch pot ontop of styrofoam & bark.

Unimportant- is this now a vanda alliance, Dar, Neo, or WHAT?! So many names for one little plant…

It always was in the Vanda alliance... Dar Charm is now Vandachostylis Charm, it is Neofinetia falcata (now Vanda falcata) x a complex Vandachostylis (Rhynchostyis is still its own genus in the Vanda alliance). the other parent is Vandachostylis (Van) Deep Blue Seas. The names get messed with, but culture is the same. It's a little Vanda. (The cross hasn't been registered) The Neof. (V) falcata gives it some cold tolerance, but intermediate temps are fine too. Vanda basket or pot with very open medium, same effect. It's a beauty!

(In the nomenclature, Darwinara was Neofinetia x Vanda x Rhynchostyis. Now that Neofietia has been lumped into Vanda, it becomes Vadachostylis)

Thanks for the name information, tough to follow some of the taxonomy… need to add the info to my plant log.

Appreciate the care tips. Think she is happy in the plastic or do I need to plan a repot?

I can't see what, if any, medium is in the current pot. The pot should be fine, with a chunk or two of bark if it is bare. You want to just provide some surface for water to stick to, so that you get "humid air" in the root zone. If you have other Vandaceous orchids, care is the same. Humid air, not "wet".

Its only got a bit or two of bark and a large bit of styrofoam. I would prefer it in a wood or clay pot, but want the plant healthy first….
