Default Not sure about the purple one...?

Hi Susie,
The pink one definitely looks like Louis Hatos, but I'm not sure that you have a proper tag on the purple one. I know that siblings from a cross can look different, but this difference is quite striking. I would suggest sending an e-mail of the photo to Martin Motes for proper identification, as the size of the flowers and the markings don't resemble either of the parents as well (I happen to have both in my collection). If you need Dr. Motes e-mail address, send me a private message and I'll be glad to share it with you. Oh, I almost forgot; I have had my burgundy/red one for 2 years now (it’s beginning to shape up as a nice specimen plant with 3 or 4 keikis now), and the bluish one I've had for a little more than a year.

I got both of mine as bare root (unmounted) on the same day about 3 years ago. It was one of those days that Dr Motes gives lectures at his place. It was towards the end of the day and it is possible that someone moved a plant from one table to another. They had no id tags but Mary gave me some at my request. I expect it got mixed up on that day. Then it took 3 years for the slower one to bloom. Only then did I see the problem. The purple one (probably not Mem Louis Hatos) is sending out another spike. It is different. Very big flowers! In an earlier post Roy suggested that it resembled V. coerulea.
