Has that one always been Vanda or was it absorbed from a different genus?

Looked it up in Orchidwiz.. it has always been Vanda. A marvelous species... I love the lip. It's also quite cold-tolerant. (I have grown it outside for years) Mine typically blooms in August/September, it's the standard darker color form. This one is unique - i haven't seen this paler form, I love it.

Original Vanda but not well known to hobbyists.

The lip is fantastic! I got it on a whim at Sunset Valley orchids. Peter Lin had a couple on his sell table at an open house last year. I'm really glad I got one

Is it cold tolerant? I've been growing it indoors so far.

As for the color, it started very light orange, but it does seem to be darkening.

It is quite cold tolerant. I grow it outside (though my plant doesn't look as good as yours) Mine is mounted, it also likely would be happier if somewhat wetter.
Even if yours darkens, it a very light form - the typical is chestnut-brown. Like this:http://orchidcentral.org/Images/Vand...bilingiana.jpg
