[Rescued] Sarcochilus Kulnura Tight
Hey everyone!
About 2 months ago, I rescued a Sarcochilus Kulnura Tight (Kulnura Fancy 'Red Edge Early' x Kulnura Firemist 'On Arch') from a big-box store. The poor thing was swimming in a mixture of coconut coir and a liquid I couldn't imagine ever being water. There were 3 flower stalks, 2 of which were getting droopy, and a rotting crown on one of the newest growths. I never imagined it would survive, and against every single thought in my mind I ended up bringing it home for 4.99€.
Fast forward these past weeks, after intensive surgery cutting away everything rotten, repotting and fertilizing, lo and behold the surviving stalk is now in bloom!
The flowers are lightly scented, a fragrance I would describe as cherry blossom-y with a hint of candy, and there are some white markings on the otherwise ripe-cherry-red petals and sepals.
Enjoy!
(And excuse the mess in the background, I was working while taking these pictures)

Great save! That one is a beauty - the newer Australian hybrids have such wonderful color. And these really are pretty tough. I have been told (by someone who grew quite a few Sarcos some years back) that they bloom better if they don't get much water in winter, so that might have even helped the blooms.
Actually, these are Vandaceous. Do you want me to move the thread to that forum?

Thanks for the input, guys!
I really am glad I caved in, despite all the thoughts against bringing it home, ahahah!
@Roberta
Absolutely! I saw Sarcochilus written on this forum so I just went ahead and posted it here, but it might be better to transfer it to where it belongs

I never noticed that before... that error has probably been there since the beginning of the forum when it was set up.

I wish this kind of sorcery happened more often, ahahah! I'm guessing it was just a packaging mistake, as it seemed to be a large bulk order from Akerne (there were lots of paphios and dendrobiums, and this one was just sitting among everything else). The cashier just slapped a random price on it, as it wasn't even in the system 🤣
