Vanda flowers dehydrated
Default Vanda flowers dehydrated

Hello,

So I pirchased another Vanda and it soent two days in non conditioned bus traveling to Lithuania from Netherlands. The flowers looks dehydrated and droopy.

I’m socking it in bath right now and sprayed distiled water on flowers, will that help? It think she is overheated and dehydrated as we have +26 now and even hotter in Germany and Poland through wich she was traveling.

Will the flowers recover?
Here is a pic of flower stem

Flowers usually do not recover. Shipping is hard on flowers in general, and it is quite usual to lose the flowers on a new plant. (I am always amazed when they DO survive shipping) The goal is to keep the plant healthy, so it will bloom again.

I puted the whole plant in bathtub, roots, leaves, flowers as I was told by seller who grows Vandas for almost 20 years.

The flowers are starting to recover. They are a little harder right now. I will just hang the vanda upside down for the water to get out of leaf axels

Also it got shipped in open box in the minivan, so maybe she got little too much sun through windows or heat and got dehydrated.

Because when I forgot to water my Phals they got wilted flowers, very soft tissue, and when I water the next day they are normal again

That is wonderful! Orchids never cease to amaze with their resiliency. That is a beautiful plant, with spectacular flowers.

A little update:
So after 4 hours of beeing sunberged in bath, 20minutes upside down with a fan blowing air to dry leaf axels my Vanda has fully recovered!

Now I sprayed with fungicide for prevention and will keep soaking just the roots for a few more hours every day to fully rehydrate it fully as roots fully dries in like 20 minutes

Hello all! So Vanda fully recovered, leaf tension is much harder. But just wanted to ask yeastarday she had flat blooms and today they started to look like a little bowl shaped. Is this just flowers getting older?
