Winter & Vandas in the Northeast USA
Default Winter & Vandas in the Northeast USA

Collection is at 12 now and after a fantastic summer outside adventure where they all flourished it's time to come in.
While outside hanging from the tree's during that duration they were either dunked, hosed down or misted on a daily basis which they relished.
Now the challenging part of winterizing in my climate. the roots have already shrunk from the plump vein like look they had outside and I'm not certain if I should adjust the hydation pattern.
I've had a hard time over the cold 6-7 months we have here and lost many while housing much fewer during this period.

You need to have a way to keep the humidity at 60% min and temp around 80 day/60 night with artificial grow lights on for 12 hours a day.
At least that's how I finally had success up there.

I feel your pain. Our conditions are similar. Bought me 2 of those tripod-looking stands that one would place clothes on hangers to dry. One stays in the shower to hose them down while the other is just for display near a sunny window and humidifier. Not perfect but works for me. Did so well outside.

Do you have a bathroom you could convert to a Vanda room? Hang them over the bathtub with a timed grow light above them?
