Pelatantheria (Cleisostoma) scolopendrifolia
I would like to share my Pelatantheria scolopendrifolia. I picked this orchid up in the summer of 2018, when it ans let me tell you, it has seen some adversity. I bought it while I lived in PA, but I moved back to FL at the beginning of 2019 and it dealt with 8 months by a north facing window in a motel and has since contended with extended dryness and the heat of summer and has never died on my completely. I was almost sure it wouldn't make it outside since our summers are so hot and it is supposedly cool to cold growing. In-fact, I think this species might be the most cold hardy epiphytic orchid species in the world, based on the latitude of its habitat in parts of South Korea (the only other contenders might be certain species from the Himalayas or from the Andes and Epidendrum magnoliae definitely wins in North America, as parts of its habitat have seen -5F -10F.
This species has never bloomed for me though I am hopeful that with the better care I have given it in the past 6 months that it will bloom this winter or spring.
Please share if you growing this species.
-Michael
